macOS
macOS 11 or later.
First launch on a Mac
The app isn't signed with an Apple Developer ID yet. Drag Fovea to Applications, then run this once in Terminal:
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/Fovea.app"
For photographers
Open a folder of RAW files, see exactly what the camera recorded, caption each photograph and present it fullscreen. Then hand the whole project to someone else as one file.
What it does
NEF, CR2, CR3 and ARW, plus JPEG, TIFF and PNG. Fast previews, and the original files are never touched.
Lens, focal length, aperture, shutter, ISO — and where the camera actually focused, drawn on the frame.
Write the story behind each photograph. Reviewers can leave comments frame by frame.
A clean metadata overlay you control, keyboard and touch navigation, and nothing else on screen.
Export a project as a single .fovea file. It opens on a Mac, a Windows PC, or a phone's browser.
No accounts, no uploads, no analytics, no AI. Works offline once it's loaded.

About
I write software for a living and spend my free time behind a camera. Fovea is the tool I wanted for showing those photographs properly — with the story and the camera data side by side, and without uploading anything anywhere.
It's free and open source. If it's useful to you, I'd love to hear about it.
